My name is Stephen Murphy, I am an amateur photographer from County Limerick, Ireland. Like many others my interest in photography stemmed from spending time in the outdoors. I have been hiking and exploring the mountains, hills and coastlines of Munster in the south west of the country for many years. Spending time in nature inspires many to seek a way to attempt to capture the essence of that which gives us so much enjoyment and peace so in 2017 I decided to buy a camera and began to learn and practice the art of photography.
Why Slievecarran?
Slievecarran is a hill in the Burren in County Clare, a part of the country I love to visit and explore. It is a landscape of unique beauty; lush, green and colourful in spring and summertime, becoming more bleak and atmospheric through autumn into winter when the orange and yellows colours of the dormant vegetation are dominant, all set against the perdurable limestone karst.
Many of the pictures on this website were taken there.
Thanks for taking the time to view my work,
Stephen.
